OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Besides winning a third ASA Mens Major Fast Pitch National Championship in South Bend, Ind. last month, The Farm Tavern team of Madison, Wis., broke three team records with the players equaling or breaking seven other records.
Designated hitter Rob Gray of The Farm broke the most hits record of Curt Peterson (16) by batting .500 (17-for-34) plus he equaled the RBI record held by Shawn Rychcik of 14.
Farm first baseman Donny Hale equaled the home run record (5), which is shared with three other players: Clayton McGovern, Bob McClish and Jody Hennigar. Hales five homers helped him break the total bases record as he finished with 34 total bases including three doubles, one triple and five singles. He also had a slugging percentage of .971, also a record.
The Farms shortstop, Jeff Goolagong, set a new one game RBI record with six against the Quad City Sox on July 31 in a three-inning game and teammates Colin Abbott and Zenon Winters each scored 13 runs for another record.
As a team, The Farm set new standards for batting average (.378), hits (116) and most total runs scored (90). Six of its players were named first or second-team All-America.
This was the third time South Bend hosted the Mens Major Fast Pitch National Championship and each time The Farm Tavern as won.
